WellDoc and American Diabetes Educators Association enter into partnership that will promote educational content

The main function of BlueStar is analyzing of patient data and comparison of new data with past tests. The resulting analytics can provide not only patient with better insight into their health status, but also enable healthcare providers to optimize their treatments and diagnosis. In addition to analyzing of patients health data, the app also has deep integration with services such as motivational messages, behavioral coaching, and educational content. This makes BioStart a full package that can deliver various types of health services directly to the mobile phone device of users. BlueStar became famous for becoming first reimbursable digital therapeutic in the field of digital health.

“We were able to build a curriculum that will be able to be delivered in a contextually guided way for our users built off the AADE materials,” said WellDoc Chief Marketing Officer Tara Charvat when asked about the new partnership with AADE. “It’s a beautiful add-on and it’s really a great way for patients to get a more guided curriculum to help them with the self-management of their condition above and beyond the real-time feedback and the other coaching methods that we’ve built on that platform.”

Integration of AADE services will happen via digitization and editing of their previously made educational content. Transformation of the content into digital data will mostly focus on the creation of “bite-sized” content that will be delivered to patients at the moment when such data will have the most impact. Data offered by AADE will be focused on seven primary areas of self-management:

  • Healthy Eating
  • Being Active
  • Monitoring
  • Taking Medication
  • Problem Solving
  • Reducing Risks
  • Healthy Coping

“Digital health is a strong complement to in-person care and education provided by diabetes educators. It is beneficial for AADE to leverage meaningful partnerships with digital health leaders, such as WellDoc, to make every tool available to people living with type 2 diabetes,” said  AADE CEO Charles MacFarlane. “Integrating our curriculum into the BlueStar platform is an important strategic decision for AADE and will benefit our members and people with type 2 diabetes in this evolving healthcare environment. We look forward to continuing to build on this relationship.”
